Typically, installations around a valve should have a clearance range between 300 - 500 mm for easy maintenance. If not, maintaining the valve would be difficult. That is, operations such as turning the valve handle, removal of unions and other fittings adjoining the valve for maintenance purpose, would be impossible. Poor clearance around fittings can render a line useless if not well managed.

A few result of poor clearance management include:

  • high running cost/maintenance cost
  • loss of revenue
  • damaged fittings along the line
  • poor control of product running in the line
